Quarry. © 2007 Micheal Cross Trinity. Acrylic and oil. 24 x 36 inches. Micheal Cross Trinity, a member of Pacific Unitarian Church in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, says it is “gratifying,” as a conceptual abstract expressionist artist, to have his work“viewed purely on its merit and message.” Margaret Lazzari, a fellow UU and a professor of art at the University of Southern California, writes, “Trinity’s wild and brilliant colors are his ways of getting at the sexual energies or confronting the crazy parts of our lives. His process-oriented paintings are physical, aggressive, and highly textured. Layer after layer of paint obscures, accumulates, or emphasizes the structures and forms below. Materials are important.”
