After last week's decision by the Quincy, Massachusetts, Historical Commission to ban a UU church's marriage equality banner prompted letters to the editor and complaints that the ruling was based not on the size or placement of the banner, as the commission had insisted, but on its subject matter, the Quincy Zoning Board overruled the decision. The United First Parish Church will be allowed to hang the 34-foot-by-4-foot sign reading "People of Faith for Marriage Equality" on their historic building. And in Illinois, a Gay Games VII request to hold rowing competitions in Crystal Lake was approved by the narrow vote of 3-2, overturning a previous tied vote of 2-2. The Rev. Dan Larson of nearby Woodstock’s Congregational Unitarian Church attended both meetings to speak in support of of the games. (Windy City Times - Chicago, IL 3.8.06)
