'Devastating' fire destroys UU church
The Unitarian Universalist Society of Orange County in Rock Tavern, N.Y., was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning. The 60-member congregation is considering their options but will meet on Sunday outside the remains of their building to mourn the loss and celebrate the rebirth of the congregation. Unitarian couple honored by Holocaust Memorial Museum
The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum will dedicate plaques in the memory of Unitarians Martha and the Rev. Waitstill Sharp for their work to save refugees from the Nazis during World War II. (Washington Post - 9.14.06)

Five years later, some words of wisdom
The Rev. Kenneth Read-Brown, minister of First Parish UU Church in Hingham, Mass., joins a psychotherapist in offering words of wisdom and encouragement as people reflect on the fifth anniversary of the events of September 11: ". . . each day we can strive to create more peace in our personal lives and in our communities--for whatever is done on the world stage, it is still our responsibility to help create circles of greater peace and understanding in our own parts of the world." Planning green
A green roof of plants, an atrium entrance with an indoor nature walk, underground parking--all elements of the First Unitarian Church that will be built in Duluth, Minn. The congregation is going green in a big way, with every aspect of their new building being influenced by their environmental values and Green Sanctuary efforts.
