Resurrecting New Orleans

The Unitarian Universalist Church in Norwich, Conn., hosted the 22nd annual Medieval Feast, a Twelfth Night celebration to welcome the New Year and raise funds for the church. Reagan replaces Starr King
A bronze statue of Thomas Starr King, an influential Unitarian minister who helped keep California in the Union during the Civil War, has represented California in the National Statuary Hall since 1931. But due to a recent resolution it is scheduled to be replaced in 2007 with one of a different influential Californian—Ronald Reagan. (San Jose Mercury News - CA 1.1.07)

Fight feelings of futility with hands-on work
The Rev. Bruce Davis of the Evergreen Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Marysville, Wash., has a suggestion for those feeling frustrated in these trying times. He says doing hands-on work, like volunteering, fights the feelings of futility by letting a person know "there's something I can do." (HeraldNet - Everett, WA 1.3.07)
Church's quilts comfort children
Throughout 2006, a group from the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lafayette, Ind., stitched 28 quilts to give to infants and children who had been taken from local homes where crystal methamphetamine was being produced. (Journal and Courier - Lafayette, IN 1.7.07)
