S.C. church featured on Lifetime series, and more

UU church featured on Lifetime show
Episode 5 of this season's Lifetime series Army Wives features the Unitarian Church in Charleston, S.C. In the scene, which starts at about 35:39, a soldier about to deploy to Iraq comes to the church to find out about getting her baby baptized. Episode 6 will also feature the church. The scenes were filmed in the church's sanctuary and members of the congregation were invited to be part of the filming. You can watch the episodes online. (mylifetime.com - 7.5.09)

Adult sex-ed in the media spotlight
Salon, inspired by the recent feature article in O magazine, writes about the UUA's OWL (Our Whole Lives) sexuality education curriculum for adults. (Salon - 7.9.09)

Hate-crime victim remembered
The UU Society of Bangor, Maine, marked the 25th anniversary of the local hate-crime murder of 23-year-old Charles O. Howard, a gay Unitarian. (Bangor Daily News - 7.7.09)

Sinkford's decision to keep the 2009 GA in Salt Lake City rather than boycotting the area after the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints's role in persuading California voters to reject same-sex marriage.
