Young GA delegate remembered, and more

GA delegate dies in car accident
Katherine Tyson, a 21-year-old UU was killed in a car crash returning from General Assembly where she had served as a delegate. Tyson grew up in the Mount Vernon Unitarian Church in Alexandria, Va., and was active at Arlington Street Church, Boston. (Mount Vernon Gazette - VA 7.16.09)

Among the groups that posted web pages and stories remembering Tyson were: Boston University (her alma mater), Arlington Street Church, and Mount Vernon Unitarian Church. Two Facebook pages have also been set up in her memory. Search for "We Love You, Katie Tyson" and "Katie Tyson."

Tyson's friends and family, in conjunction with her churches and the UUA
Mass Bay District, have created the Katie Tyson Fund to train and develop leaders among UU youth and young adults.

UUA, UUSC select minority leaders
The Christian Century reports that both the Unitarian Universalist Association and the United Church of Christ chose minority presidents at their national meetings in June. The UUA's first Latino president, the Rev. Peter Morales, was elected at the General Assembly in Salt Lake City. (The Christian Century - 7.09)
