Won't sign for weddings in Va., swine flu at church, and more

To support gay rights, two ministers at the Unitarian Church of Norfolk, Va., have refused to sign marriage licenses for heterosexual couples. "I realized I was taking part in this discriminatory system, and I don't have to and don't want to," said John P. Manwell, co-pastor of the church. (The Virginian-Pilot - VA 10.12.09)

In a demonstration organized by the First Unitarian Society of Denver, about 200 people gathered in front of the state Capitol in Denver to call for equal rights for same-sex couples. (The Denver Post - CO 10.12.09)
