GLAAD honors 10-year-old UU
Will Phillips, whose family attends the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Fayetteville, Ark., accepted an award at the 21st Annual GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) Media Awards in New York on March 13. Phillips was in the media quite a bit last fall after he refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance in his fifth-grade classroom because the Pledge says ‘liberty and justice for all’ but gay and lesbian citizens don't have equal rights.
