The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Newark, Delaware, is offering an eight-week peace curriculum for children in kindergarten through sixth grade to help them better understand this big and important concept and to help them take control over aspects of their lives. Andrea Harding, the fellowship's religious education coordinator, noted that the curriculum will help young people better live in community and "work on things like communication and problem-solving.” ( Newark Post- 9.12.18)
This weekend, members of Tree of Life Unitarian Universalist Congregation in McHenry, Illinois, will rededicate nine windows in a special service on Sunday morning. The windows were originally part of the congregation’s former location in Woodstock, Illinois. Representing the religions which are sources of our faith, the windows have been a meaningful part of Tree of Life's identity ever since they were created," said congregant Patrick Murfin. Laura Thacker Schrank used to participate in blood drives at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis, Maryland, organized by congregant Wendi Winters. Winters was one of five people killed when a gunman opened fire in the Capital Gazette’s newsroom in June. Now Thacker Schrank is organizing the blood drive in memory of Winters. “She was so courageous. I said I’m going to start giving blood once a year to honor Wendi.” ( Capital Gazette- 9.14.18)
