The Rev. Robin Tanner of Beacon Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Summit, New Jersey, joined clergy of many faith traditions in a dramatic demonstration outside of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s office in Washington, D.C., earlier this week. Carrying a coffin and cardboard headstones, they processed through the streets. “We say, we will not bury the dead buried by your bills,” affirmed Tanner. ( Religion News Service– 7.25.17)

Unitarian Universalist presence at scouting event fuels inclusion efforts

The Rev. Earl Johnson, chaplain and former Eagle Scout, reflected on the recent National Jamboree where U.S. President Donald Trump spoke, whose comments elicited anger among many scouts and their families. Johnson lifted up the valuable safe space created by the booth shared by Scouts for Equality, the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), and the United Church of Christ (UCC) and urged all scout supporters upset by the president’s remarks to support Scouts for Equality as well.
