Westboro Baptist Church, infamous for its hateful antigay protests, has announced plans to picket the General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association on Friday afternoon, June 24. The UUA published a notice on its Facebook page this morning acknowledging those plans:

The UUA Board of Trustees and staff are aware that the website of the Westboro Baptist Church indicates that members of this organization plan to picket outside of our General Assembly in Columbus, OH, on Friday, June 24th, from 12:45 pm to 1:15 pm.

The staff have been in communication with the Columbus Police Department and the security staff of the Columbus Convention Center about this issue. Please be assured that we have a plan in place for a peaceful response. If members of Westboro Baptist Church proclaim their usual message of hate and intolerance, we will respond with our message of peace and love.

We will update this post as more information becomes available.
